Is it safe to park your car in the garage?

Garage Door

If you park your car in the garage and use it for storage, you’re probably short on space, which can make it difficult to manoeuvre your car in and out of the garage without causing any damage. Luckily, by taking some easy measures, you can make your garage a safe place to park.

3 tips to get your car in the perfect position

1. A really great and inexpensive trick is hanging a tennis ball from the garage door. All you have to do is slowly edge your car into the garage and when the ball touches your windscreen, you stop! Perfect positioning every time!

2. Likewise, investing in a laser pointer will have the same effect!

3. Another similar option is using PVC parking mats, you simply drive slowly over them and stop once you feel you’ve driven over the first bump.

Never damage your car doors again!

Pool noodles – you know, those foam tubes that help you stay afloat in water? – are perfect for protecting your car doors from dings when you don’t have enough room to easily open the doors! Simply attach them to the garage walls and that it's!

How to protect car doors

Protect your garage from critters looking for a warm place to sleep!

Mice and rats can get in through the smallest holes, so make sure the weather-stripping around your garage door is intact. The last thing you want is for rodents to get in the garage and snuggle up against your car engine! Another great way to keep them out is by using mothballs – they cannot stand the stench!

And last but not least: Make sure nothing can fall onto your car

Hang tools off the ground using pegboards or keep them locked away in cabinets. Another important thing to consider is not overloading shelves, overtime vibrations can cause items to shift, and you don’t want a can of paint landing on your windshield!

Take care of your garage and it will take care of your car!
